Life Coaching in Ithaca

Moving in one week…

web photoI left my job and moved to Ithaca, NY last September and it has been the best experience of my life. Initially I was a bit jittery about my decision. My friends, family and acquaintances inquired why? Why leave a job I enjoy? Why not wait until I had 20 years vested? Next conclusion…”well, if you’re not happy then it’s time to go.” My response? “I was happy”, as a matter of fact even grateful for my position.” “Then why,” they asked. My response, “I love to coach and now is the time to share it with a more diverse audience. Bottom line, because my gut tells me now!” Think about it, what kind of coach would I be if I stayed? My work is all about partnering with others who vision more, who desire to move beyond their fears, who long to thrive!
I knew I would miss my students and the classroom I called home for so many years, but I needed to soar this time fearlessly!
A quote by Einstein that stands out for me is “Let the rational mind be the faithful servant of intuitive thought”.  My inner mind told me to move into action!

To use fire as a metaphor if I stayed I would begin to smolder and burn with little or no flame. I looked up the definition of smolder and it said “to exist in a suppressed state.” To stay would have eventually led to burn out and drained my momentum to leap. We are like fire in that we need space, fuel and heat to stay alive and expand; without these three we smolder and die. Space creates options/possibilities that motivate us out of our comfort zones. Tools and strategies fuel and sustain us when things heat up. My job as a coach is to partner with you, share tools and co-create strategies that sustain you through the heat of challenge and change. And so here I am in beautiful Ithaca connecting in new ways, with new people and each day a new adventure. It hasn’t always been easy, I left so much , but I’m also embracing more than I ever dreamed possible. I am so grateful for my work, this is the work I love!

This is my work and I am in process of walking my own talk, embracing the experience and navigating the burn.
So while it has been difficult to move out of my comfort zone and sometimes downright confusing…
I am excited about all the new possibilities and living in lovely Ithaca.

    Kathy,

I just read your blog and want to share how it impressed me.

You balance your rational intellect with your heart so well… though the blog is just words on paper, your spirit genuinely comes through.

    Brava!
